Out of sorts

Ever since match day I've lost our routine and I just feel out of sorts. I've been eating junk food, not working out, and not being very productive. Don't get me wrong I had a great time with family and friends Thursday thru Saturday, but I haven't been able to get back into a routine even after our guests left.
It was nice to at least go to work today to get back to some sense of normalcy. I spent hours in front of the computer this weekend researching our future home and all the various neighborhoods. I've been house/condo/apartment hunting and I just haven't been able to stop. It's horrible. Although we finally know where we are going, I still feel like I have absolutely no control over my life. I think that is why I am trying to get something figured out or settled. We are going this weekend to explore and checkout our new location, so I am definitely looking forward to that. But I do need to figure out how to get back into a routine again, otherwise I am going to be 300 pounds, out of shape, and have a messy messy apartment and no clean clothes! But seriously, I still feel very disoriented and can't totally wrap my head around all the changes that are ahead of us.
Thank you all for the congratulations, and I am sorry I kept you in suspense for so long!

Well you have an excuse because you had wonderful things to celebrate! We can all have a week where we just let loose and let go!

Congrats!!! If I feel like my life is out of control now I can't even imagine what I will be like in your shoes in a year (I am a BIG planner).... I don't want to imagine.

I felt the same way after we matched. It helped a lot to make a "to do" list and make a plan of what we needed to do before we moved. I too am a big planner and control freak so I needed to feel like even though the big move was out of my control I could do something. We had a house to sell and I started looking for a new job right away. It was a very crazy/hectic/emotional time in our life as I am sure it is for you too. You will do great!

Sorry I'm behind on the congratulations! I'm sure you are thrilled that part of waiting is over! I'm experiencing what you are going through in regards to looking for a place to live and it taking over your life. We are moving in a little under 2 months and I've been house hunting NON stop! (House hunting is a whole lot more fun than job hunting!). The gym defintely helps get back into the swing of things; hope "normalcy" finds you soon!

Different but similar situation--when we finally found out where my husband would be going for his military assignment, I finally had to make decisions on law school, find a place to live, research the area, etc. It just felt so overwhelming--we had been waiting so long for a final answer and had put so much on hold that it sort of felt like a tailspin once things finally started moving!

Hang in there. I found that lists of things to do and some sort of timeline for when they needed to be done helped immensely.

Awwww... Sorry you are feeling this way. I have to admit, it was a pretty stressful time after Match Day to find a place.

Tip: Do not go house hunting with your husband and three of his MALE classmates. Especially when you have a severe cold and all they want to do is drink beers.

Extra Tip: Also, do not let them talk you into SHARING A ROOM with all 4 of them. That is a terrible, terrible idea. (I tell you this in case you were hopped up on DayQuil like I was and lost your sense of reason.)

Hang in there! It will all work out.

Oh girl... I totally relate, well not exactly, mine is sort of relating in reverse... a few weeks ago I was totally calm and ready to move and start medical school, but with moving day only 17 weeks away, and class starting in only 19 weeks... I'm starting to freak out and feel out of control too...

I think you'll feel better after you see your new home this weekend (at least I keep telling myself I'll feel better once we go house hunting in June)...

In the meantime, make a fun list... not a to do list, but a list of fun things you want to do in your area before you move, and then try to make sure that every week or so before the move you accomplish one of those fun things.... That should give you something energizing to focus on besides all the upheaval that will have to come with the move... I'm going to post my list of things I have to do in Austin before we move sometime next week!

New to your blog and love it :-)

I always have the same experience when we make a big decision. There's that "disequilibrium" phase where you just don't know which way is up (even though you've actually just made a huge and affirming decision). Always makes me totally unproductive for a few days while I distract myself with thoughts of the future and what "might be."

Congrats and good luck on everything!
