So....

in a less than two months, my husband will be graduating medical school. And I will no longer be "married to a medical student." So I was hoping to get some feedback and advice. What should I do? Should I continue blogging? Should I stay with the current title? Should I start a new blog? Any advice? Any suggestions?
Unfortunately marriedtoaresident marriedtoamedicalresident, adoctorswife, thedoctorswife are all taken with blogspot... and the sad part is most of them are blogs that haven't been written on at all or haven't been written on in months. I have also pondered titles that don't have doctor or resident in the title. I'd like to continue blogging, both as a means to document our life and also to serve as a resource to other spouses of medical students and (in the future) residents. So . . . please tell me your thoughts, I'd love to hear them!

Hey girl :) I, personally, don't think you should start a new blog..you might lose readers. But I think it's ok if you change the title of your blog. I've been thinking about doing that with mine once I graduate. Drop the nickname and go by my real name, that sort of thing. Anyways, I think it's up to you with what you decide on your title. Maybe think about things you and your husband love or something to do with being a lawyer and your husby as a Dr. Hope that helps :)

OH, and to answer your question about moving closer to MIGM...that's still up in the air. He's also in the Navy and half way through Intern year he finds out if he continues his next four years of residency OR (after intern year is over) start 6 months of Flight Surgery training and then 3 1/2 years of being a Flight Surgeon. THEN, after 'giving back' his four years..leave the Navy and finish his 4 remaining years of residency as a civilian! It's exhausting when I have to think about it, ha! But, (most likely), after I graduate I will be going to Virginia and then I'll just go where he goes :)

I think you should call it a combo of your job and his job... because it's pretty awesome that you're a lawyer AND he's a doctor....

So what about "The doctor takes a lawyer wife"

or "Love, Law and Medicine" -- okay that one is lame, but you get the idea :)

It's funny, because as I was clicking on your blog name I was thinking - "I wonder if she will end up changing her blog name soon... you know, because he's not going to be a medical student soon!!" lol...

Hmmmmm... you DEFINITELY have to keep blogging. I think this is when the fun begins and I am going to need to pop in to see how you guys are doing!! But a new name would be fun. I will have to think about this and get back to you!

definitely keep blogging! after getting married I changed my blogspot and chose a neutral blogspot address that could continue with us forever in my opinion no matter what I choose to blog about, but I can change the title if need be :)

don't stop blogging though. you'd be missed :)

thelifeofaneurosurgeonswife?
wifeofaneurosurgeon?

I also like Elle's ideas.

Please don't stop blogging. I need all the tips and advice I can get from my blogging buddy/med wife. = )

I don't think you need to change your address! I agree you could just change the title if you wanted. If you're set on changing the address, though, you might try contacting some of the authors of those blogger blogs and see if they'd be willing to give up the titles.

I love the idea of keeping the blog - it's really an awesome way to keep track of your journey. I've seen some people keep the same blogspot address but just change the name everywhere else. What about doing something like that?

I really hope your keep blogging. It's wonderful to read posts from someone who has been there, done that, and survived the process. :)

Please keep blogging!

Your life (and blog) doesn't have to be defined by the stage your hubby's career is in!

You can keep your URL the same and just change your title to something more fitting of this new stage (or something that will grow with you).

I second the Lawyer + Doc blog titles.

Since you have a lot of avid readers you can probably call it whatever you want! :) Especially if you don't close this blog and just put a link to your new one, if it's needed.

Don't stop blogging and don't switch blogs!

I wonder about this, too, like I have chosen to define myself by my husband's pursuits and I won't always be "Law School Wife," but I don't know if I want to be Lawyer's Wife? I have my own thing going on, and maybe I should reflect that more? I haven't figured that one out yet, but I have a little time...

Does blogger let you map your own domain name to your blogspot address?

Otherwise I'd stick with the same URL and just change everything else like other people have suggested.

So...it looks like a lot of people want you to stick around with blogging and I can concur with that. DON'T change your blogspot...just change your title. It sounds like you have a lot of different options...make sure it's something that you can "grow" into and not keep changing though. ;)

Please keep blogging! I can't wait to have another resident's wife to commiserate with. :-)

(Selfish, I know! But clearly other readers would miss you too.)

I agree that you don't need to change your URL. Then you can pick any title you want.

Definitely keep blogging. I think maybe keep the same URL but change the title. Your blog is one of my favorites to read because it's interesting, plus it's a heads up for me as well.

Something stressing the importance of YOU because his title doesn't define who you are, ya know? You worked hard to get where you are so take credit for that. You could do something cute and funny like "DrAndMrsLawyer" with a title like "How the Ambulence Chaser Finally Caught the Ambulence".
Good luck! Keep blogging!

I say keep the name. It has a history and a place, I think.

I have "aresidentswife" and I am guilty of not posting on it!!!!! I will give it to you, if that is possible or if you want it.

That is the problem with medicine, you are always on to something new!

I think you should keep your blog, but change the title, like somebody already said.

I really think you should keep blogging...and maybe change the name to something new. You could leave the whole "Dr" out of the title and have the subtitle include it. Just a thought, but I would miss reading your blogs if you left! Yay for Dr.H being almost done! I know y'all must be pretty excited! XOXO, KA

Keep blogging, you have a great site. I wish I had spent more time choosing my address since it's a pain to change, but it sounds like you can change yours! You are a great writer and post a lot of interesting things. Definitely don't stop!

I think you should keep the same url but change your header to have Medical Student lined out and Doctor or Physician above it like it's handwritten in after the fact. Isn't that really the case of your blog? what comes next, and next, and next...

Can't wait to see what you decide.
